Officers of Little Sutton Sapphires WI attended the Autumn federation meeting for Cheshire at Winsford today (3rd October 2017)
Super event and we had our picture taken with John McCarthy who was guest speaker for the day!
One of the Sapphire members also found a picture taken from the Cheshire Federation page where she asked members to find a Sapphire in the audience.
What an amazing evening was had last night by members of Little Sutton Sapphires WI. We had our half yearly party to show members our appreciation for supporting our WI with sales tables and raffles.
We had Majestic Wines from Chester to come along and give us an educational speech on white and red wine. Tasters were given to members from different bottles from the "Defination Range" of Majestic wines.
Members enjoyed a buffet after and also decided who was to be the first "Sapphire of the Year 2017 - 2018. The winner was Audrey Powell
Next one of our members Anne Allen, who won first place in the beginners class ( 1A) at the Royal Cheshire Show was awarded the Edwina Oldham Trophy which will be kept for 6 mths and then handed to the other joint winner from Heswall Honey's
Our first bursary award was won by our president Adele, who decided to give it to our Secretary for all her hard work with crafters and promoting the Sapphires wherever she went and for the hard work she does for members entering the cheshire show.
Sapphires have to be different and May's meeting certainly was that. We had a Ukulelee group come along and give us lessons on chord to play the instrument.
We had so much fun with members joining in on a singalong and also playing the chords learnt for more singing
We had one of our members give us a talk for the April WI meeting. Cathy Bowness who is a flower arranger.
She brought loads of flowers/leaves/ornamants and bits and gave us several demonstrations on basics and small arrangements to try at home.
Loads of enthusiasm by members, so much so pictures went up of members who had tried out Cathy's ideas
Little Sutton Sapphires WI attended their first Cheshire Federation Council meeting at Winsford. There were two speakers on the day.
Jennie Williams from Titan ( Cyber Project Officer)
She gave members a talk on the pitfalls of using the internet and what to do to avoid being targeted by fraudsters
The afternoon speaker was Derek Poulson who gave a talk on dialects across the UK, pictured here with a trustee and myself. Sneakily taken by a trustee.
Little Sutton Sapphires WI have been awarded a grant towards a defibrillator to be situated in Little Sutton, Ellesmere Port.
Now we are raising funds to have it fitted and to go on courses to enable use of the machine. Defibrulator

More ladies enjoying crafting and members of Little Sutton Sapphires had a fab 1st Birthday Crafting. Can't believe it has been one whole year since we signed the constitution and became part of the Cheshire Federation
Sapphires didn't hold a meeting in December, instead they had a Christmas Party at the Woodcote House Hotel. Forty two of our Eighty two members attended this evening and we had fun. Santa came to visit us and gave us small gifts. We sang songs and our own sapphire version of the Twelve Days of Christmas with actions off all members.... Raffles and a disco and merriment and fun
