Lest we forget

Several members of our WI have made wreaths/Banners/Knitted and Crochet Poppies. Some laminated ones and ceramic poppies have also been made.
The Sapphire's have showered Little Sutton in Ellesmere Port with Poppies in remembrance of those killed in wars to enable us to live on.

Ollie's Orchard

Some of our members went to Ollie's Orchard in Delamere, where they where shown around and where able to see cider being made on site. Members could purchase fruit from their day out and also where given refreshments.
Although the weather was awful, members enjoyed their outing



Committee get together

Our President invited us all to a get together to thank the committee for 10 months working together as a group to bring like minded women together in Little Sutton to enjoy each others company and to give everyone a chance to have a go at cooking, craft, knitting, outings etc.

We had a fun filled evening.

Haunted Hunts - October Meeting

October's meeting was Daniel Moss from Helsby with "Haunted Hunts"
Daniel and his  team travel over the country looking to search buildings with a history of the paranormal. He gave members a talk, showed equipment used and a video of evidence gathered.

Nepal Speaker - September's Meeting

Charlie Bartlett was the speaker for the September meeting. He gave members an interesting talk about his adventures and his fund raising in Nepal to ensure young people gain the education and welfare to achieve more out of life.

Bees and Buzzy Bees

This month the Sapphires had a local beekeeper come along to give us a talk about Bees.
It also added to the Resolution that the National Federation had in 2009 to save our Bees.

Members also entered a competition for anything to do with Bees. The winner was Diane Brown who made 12 Bee orientated cupcakes.

Sapphires hit the Newspapers

What an eventful July the Sapphires have had. We not only where in the local Newspapers for hanging our braskets around our local village, but, also the National Newspapers ( Mail on Sunday) put some of our members into their newspaper.

Brasket Bombing

Women's Institute was running a competition along with Sutton Seeds to find unusual ways to promote flowers. A Bra was thought of and so became the "BRASKET"
Little Sutton Sapphires WI, held a competition for members at their July meeting and a winner was picked to go forward to try and win £200 of sutton seeds.
The winner was a sapphire member - Alison Hughes

Members of the committee then Brasket bombed their village where the institute holds meetings.
They where attached to railings which where just before traffic lights in the village, so drivers on their way to work this morning would see them.

Hook line and Stitchers knitting Group

Knitting and Crochet Sub group at Little Sutton Sapphires WI and local library. Every Tuesday evening a group of crafty knitting and Crochet ladies meet up to learn or teach other members and have fun.

Walking Group

Ladies of Little Sutton Sapphires WI enjoying a leisurely walk around Rivacre Valley in Ellesmere Port. They then headed off to a local cafe for a brew or two.
Ladies meet the last monday of every month and enjoy a walk and a coffee!

JFT 96 Quilt talk

We had an amazing speaker last night at our Little Sutton Sapphires meeting. Linda whitfield who had made a quilt for the 96 people who died at Hillsborough and had donated it to them.
In the end the hillsborough families decided it should be something that everyone should be able to view and it was donated to the Museum of Liverpool.
An inspiring talk by a lovely lady.


Little Sutton Sapphires WI are very proud to have her as a member.

Little Sutton Sapphires Afternoon Tea

Several of our members attended afternoon tea at the Woodcote House Hotel in Ellesmere Port on 28th April to celebrate the Queens Birthday.
Dress code was royalty and Red, White and Blue.
