Christmas Party

42 Brave Sapphires came on a windswept raining night to the village hotel in Brombrough for the Christmas Party. It was a Motown evening and was enjoyed by all.

Little Sutton Sapphires WI This is a new WI in Ellesmere Port Cheshire, A meeting was set up to see just how many women would be interested in  WI in Little Sutton and we had 50+ ladies from all age groups attend. A WI  advisor from the Cheshire Federation came and gave us a talk about the WI how and where it started, and general information. We also had another lady who was an organiser of the craft marquee for the Cheshire Show, she came along to tell us all about the Centenary Marquee that was there last year. We where told that 7 miles of bunting and beautiful banners made by our WI’s where on show in the marquee, to celebrate the NFWI Centenary. It also made a wonderful backdrop for the amazing exhibits and displays on show. Over 500 entries provided a wonderful array of entries in cookery, preserves, wine making, cake decorating and sugar craft, fabric, yarn and hard crafts, art, flower arranging and photography. Centenary Celebrations and Resolutions

Sapphires had the pleasure of listening to a talk about the Resolutions being put forward by WI's in 2019 for consideration as to the Resolution members will vote for at the AGM in Bournemouth in June 2019. The new CFWI advisor Alia El Asmar came and gave us a brief talk on resolutions and timescales and also what the WI has achieved since 1918. Our Second Speaker for the night was Jean Harding the Chairwoman of CFWI. she told Sapphires all about the Centenary Celebrations for 100 years of the Cheshire Federation in 2020. Events taking place in 2020 25 TH FEBRUARY – CENTENARY CONCERT, CHESTER CATHEDRAL WITH CELEBRATORY SONGS.         FEDERATION CHOIR WILL BE PERFORMING. Haunted Hunts - October Meeting

October's meeting was Daniel Moss from Helsby with "Haunted Hunts" Daniel and his  team travel over the country looking to search buildings with a history of the paranormal. He gave members a talk, showed equipment used and a video of evidence gathered. Pictures show members who dressed up in Halloween outfits.
